Meetings and agendas in CabNet

Calendar of meetings

The CabNet calendar contains all Cabinet, Cabinet committee and Executive Council meeting events within an upcoming year.

The regular meeting timetable operates when the House of Representatives (the House) is sitting.

Meeting times can be altered closer to the time of the meeting, or meetings may be cancelled if there is insufficient business. All CabNet users have access to the CabNet calendar and can view all meeting events. Changes to meeting events are shown in the My Activities notification stream, on the CabNet calendar, and in the email notification digest.

The CabNet calendar also shows Executive Council meetings (displaying as EC) and Cabinet Appointments and Honours Committee meetings (displaying as APH (Hons)). Items cannot be lodged in CabNet for these meeting types.

General advice on Cabinet and committee meetings

When the House is adjourned, only Cabinet and the Executive Council usually meet. The Cabinet Business Committee (CBC) meets only as required in weeks when the House is adjourned. If there is insufficient business for a CBC meeting, any papers submitted for CBC may be considered at Cabinet instead or held over until the next relevant committee meeting.

For those officials who do not have access to CabNet, a schedule of the next week’s meetings is issued by the Cabinet Office every Friday (and accessible on the Public Sector Intranet - link available only to people with access), with any changes noted at that time. The meeting timetable for the year is also published on the Public Sector Intranet.

The list of Cabinet committees, their membership and terms of reference, is on the Cabinet Office’s section of the DPMC website and on the Public Sector Intranet.
